Let’s take a look at the news of December 2023.

4th anniversary of VR Mystery School

Today marks the 4th anniversary of ‘VR Mystery School’ going public. Grateful for four years of hard work, growth, fun events, and life-changing conversations. Thanks to volunteers, staff, contributors, and visitors who’ve contributed in their own way to our mission to provide quality resources on personal development, spirituality, and mysticism. Here’s to more years ahead!

Catching up

As the new year approaches, my goal is to complete pending tasks like video editing, unfinished VR features, and adding some essential features that will save me trouble and time in the future. These streamlining efforts will allow me to focus more on creating and hosting more VR activities, along with working on new VR spaces, in 2024. At the time of writing this, there are still 10 days left to finish a bunch of things, more about those in the next news update.

Reflecting on 2023

To me it felt like the year flashed by. Looking back, there were some quite significant milestones in the development of the project, among them are:

  • Version 2.0 of the website
  • Finishing our ‘Metta meditation’ instruction method for use during our lesson/group practice, and its companion video.
  • Getting back into special events, including streaming and video-on-demand
  • Repairing the VR space in the editor, after it broke with VRChat’s VCC update, allowing to continue development after months long slow down.
  • New content and systems implemented. Including new art exhibits, our buddhist meditation theory display in the garden,  the new Tarot 2.0 system, voice amplification system in the auditorium, an improved whitelist/blacklist system to keep our VR spaces safe, and several other major new features, library content and optimizations implemented.
  • 600 users joined our VRChat Group since its creation on Dec 8th 2022. 500 new followers to our YouTube channel
  • Many ‘behind the scenes’ improvements, project management and streamlining successes and progressing insight into the future and direction of VRM
  • Personally, i’ve reached a new level of comfort with programming, something that will play an essential role in the future of the project.
  • Much more!

Looking forward

Once all the catching up and streamlining is taken care of, it’s time to look forward to the new year. The primary focus for 2024 will be:

  • Special Events:
    Hopefully in 2024 we will see multiple special events every month.
  • New VR Features & VR Spaces:
    Now that the VR Mystery School world is developing well and has most of the intended facilities, it’s time to broaden the horizon and work on new immersive and educational world projects.
  • Automation:
    Taking more steps to automate and reduce the time spent on tedious upkeep tasks, which should leave more time for the above two points!
  • Social Media presence:
    With the help of volunteers we will increase our social media presence, and hopefully attract new members, speakers & hosts.
  • Fund raising:
    While there are a small handful of persevering supporters, fund raising has been a huge problem for the project so far. Hopefully in the new year i’ll find a way to give the project a financial impulse and aleviate some of the difficulties i’m experiencing in this regard.
