4th anniversary of VR Mystery School
Today marks the 4th anniversary of VR Mystery School going public. Grateful for four years of hard work, growth, fun events, and life-changing conversations.
Thanks to volunteers, staff, contributors, and visitors who have contributed in their own way to the mission of providing quality resources on personal development, spirituality, and mysticism. Here is to more years ahead.
Catching up
As the new year approaches, the goal is to complete pending tasks like video editing, unfinished VR features, and essential maintenance features that will save time in the future.
These streamlining efforts should leave more room for creating and hosting VR activities, along with working on new VR spaces in 2024.
Reflecting on 2023
Looking back, 2023 included several significant milestones in the development of the project.
- Version 2.0 of the website.
- Finishing the Metta meditation instruction method for group practice, along with its companion video.
- Getting back into special events, including streaming and video-on-demand.
- Repairing the VR space in the editor after VRChat's VCC update, which allowed development to continue after a months-long slowdown.
- Implementing new content and systems, including new art exhibits, the Buddhist meditation theory display in the garden, the Tarot 2.0 system, voice amplification in the auditorium, an improved whitelist and blacklist system, library content, and optimizations.
- 600 users joining the VRChat group since its creation on December 8, 2022, plus 500 new followers on YouTube.
- Many behind-the-scenes improvements in project management and future planning.
Looking forward
Once the catching up and streamlining are handled, the primary focus for 2024 will be special events, new VR features and spaces, automation, social media presence, and fundraising.
- Special events: multiple special events every month, if capacity allows.
- New VR features and VR spaces: broader immersive and educational world projects now that the main VR Mystery School world has most of its intended facilities.
- Automation: reducing upkeep tasks so more time can go into creation and hosting.
- Social media presence: working with volunteers to reach new members, speakers, and hosts.
- Fundraising: finding a healthier financial base for the project.
Guided tours
Guided tours of the facility, library, and art collections are one way VRM is working to gather funds for the project.
